When a fever develops, what should you do? Here are some home remedies:
1. Saffron water:
Saffron is an effective treatment for fever. Boil a tablespoon of saffron in 100 ml water. Sip a tablespoon of it every hour until the fever subsides. It provides instant relief to the body.
2. Raisin Extract:
If you’re suffering from high fever, soak around 25 to 30 raisins in half a cup of water. Crush the raisins in the same water and strain it. Add a tablespoon of lime water in that juice, and drink it twice a day until your fever is gone.
Raisins act as a tonic for your body and help reduce fever.
This one is quite unexpected, right? Well, it’s true that apricot can help in reducing fever as it is a cooling agent. Prepare fresh juice of apricot along with honey for the purpose of sweetening (it will also eliminate all the toxins from your body). It also helps tone your heart, stomach, liver and eyes, by supplying an ample amount of minerals and vitamins.
4. Grapefruit Juice:
Grapefruit juice is counted as a good remedial diet for all types of fever. It removes the burning sensation you might have due to fever. Consumption of grapefruit juice twice a day can cure fever.
5. Orange Juice:
Orange juice does a world of good in tackling digestive disorders and fever. It not only increases the urinary output, but also helps in removing toxic substances accumulated in the body. Orange juice also increases the body’s resistance by removing infections. Consuming orange juice every two hours can provide instant relief from fever.
6. Cure Your Fever With Water:
When you’ve fever, your body becomes dehydrated. Try to drink as much water as possible.
Take bath in lukewarm water; it should help bring your body temperature down. That said, now don’t try to bring down your fever rapidly by plunging into cold water!
You can also give yourself a sponge bath. Soak a sponge in cold water and place it on the high-heat areas including the armpits and the groin.
When you’re not bathing, place a cold, damp cloth on your forehead and the back of your neck. You can also add a cup of vinegar to the water, wring the washcloth, and apply it to the forehead.
7. Tulsi Leaves:
Add 1 tablespoon of tulsi leaves to one cup of hot water. Wait for 5 minutes, and drink it about three to four times a day. This drink of tulsi leaves makes you sweat more, making your fever subside by the next day.
Other herbs that promote sweating include peppermint, yarrow, and elderflowers.
8. Rice Starch:
Rice starch (also known as kanji, in Hindi) is a common home remedy used for ages to treat viral fever. It acts as a diuretic that increases urination and boosts the immune system.
How To Prepare:
Take a cup of rice and prepare to cook it. Once it starts cooking, strain the liquid into a tumbler, add a pinch of salt, and drink it warm. It will help combat fever.
9. Fenugreek Water:
Fenugreek seeds or methi are considered a reservoir of various medicinal compounds that help reduce fever and combat many diseases. Soak a tablespoon of fenugreek seeds in half a cup of water overnight. In the morning, strain the solution and sip it in regular intervals. You can also add honey and lemon to this mixture for some relief.
Brew a cup of hot yarrow tea, or elderflower or ginger tea. The tea opens up your pores and promotes sweating.
Spice can help cure fever. Sprinkle a small amount of cayenne pepper on your foods. It promotes rapid blood circulation.
